Park / Korean Traditional Garden in Guangdong Province, China

• The Korean Traditional Garden was completed in 2005 through a prize contest in 2003 due to the joint statement on the development of friendly cooperation between Gyeonggi-do, Korea and Guangdong, China (October 17, 2002), which allowed both countries to create their traditional gardens respectively. The location was about 8500m2 in Yue Xiu Park, Guangdong Province, China, with a slight slope and small valleys with Mt. Yue Xiu in the background. Unlike the Chinese garden, which was built on a flatter place, it was advantageous to apply the style of our hermitage garden, which was built on a dynamic topography.
  
  Such a hermitage garden is a garden in nature, in a style that has been closely related at the interface between the two at the boundary between house and nature, daily life and ideal, style and philosophy, radiating its rich cultural fragrance. Also, due to the important function of the hermitage, which was used to welcome guests and promote cultural exchange, the hermitage style was the most appropriate direction for the traditional Korean garden to be built in Guangdong Province. 
  
  Construction of the space began by removing the aging facilities from the existing site and restoring the distorted topography to the original natural state. It comprises the outer yard, courtyard, garden entry space, main garden, and rear garden from the lowest area. The gap between spaces gradually rises as traditional architecture and forests are repeatedly revealed and hidden due to the difference. Accordingly, the depth of the space is added, and in this sequence, the garden induces a secret communication with nature and finally embraces the surrounding scenery at its peak. This can be expressed as a living beauty of the poetic taste of the Korean Hermitage Garden.
